Personal background
From Holland/Netherlands age 45 former informatica specialist now postman.
Have always been interested in other live and hope once to be "kidnapped" by a strange population in order to meet some more common sense.
If "they" want they can take me away for a one ticket ride in space.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Its egoistic to think we are alone so i believe extraterrestrial life, in any form, exists.
Humans will probably discover it when they are able to travel with great speed thru the univers even travel in time. The place to look for is nearby, middle aged, stars or to extend the travel in other univers thru black holes.
The dangers are on microscopical level also the benefits. When molocular structures are "known to the bone" by analysing them cohesion may be possible.
It will always be a struggle to get "compatable" with any lifevorm found, if its by technology or plain humanoid adaption.
Humans have already transmit a beacon for others and i am not positive about it because if something will react on it we can be sure they are highly advanced and then the outcome is unsure. Better try by exploring the univers to understand any form of live and where it could be living so we can make the discision if its advisable to get in contact. Complete distruction of our live on earth is always a risc we cant afford.
I run seti just for a couple of days now and i hope in this way to help the people from seti to find whatever they are looking for.
