Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe its far-fetched to think there's billions of miles out there in the universe and we just happen to be the only life anywhere to be found. They just found ice on Mars you know. I think the discovery of life elsewhere would be radical and life-changing but it is a discovery of the sort we owe it to ourselves to make. Questions like why we exist and how we came to be here may not ever be answered in our lifetime, but at the very least we have a responsibility as possessors of consciousness to try to lay the groundwork for answering these unfathomable questions for our antecessors.
