Personal background
Hi, my name is Stepan Hluchan and I live in the Netherlands. I was born in Czech Republic from where I moved to NL when I was about 7. Currently I'm 23 years old, self-occupied (webdesign) and through Seti@Home I hope to put some use to my systems that stay on 24/7 anyway :)

My main interests are computers and internet, photography, design, music (sax) and many more that I hardly find time for lately.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
[1] Do I believe in ... extraterrestrial life? (aka aliens aka UFOs aka little-green-men-with-antennas) I would have to answer a big YES to that question. Too often many of us seem to have the ignorant and selfish thought that we - as humans - are alone out 'there', while we don't have the humblest idea how big our universe is and if it's even the only one. The probability of that is much bigger than the probability that we'd be alone, so those who are sceptic about extraterrestrial life should think again.

[2] I suppose we should transmit a beacon - yet it should not contain too much information on us, just enough for an 'introduction'. One never knows what will receive/find this and what it's intentions may or may not be. Either way I don't think it's safe, but I think most of us humans would have it in their nature to take that risk, just like we do in our daily life with other decisions.

[3] I joined Seti@home a long time ago, but then lost my account while reinstalling my computers. The other day I read an article on Seti again and how successful it turned out and I thought I'd install it not to waste cpu power :P Besides that, I'm a believer and so why not help going through the data and maybe for a part bring us closer to the truth? Because you know it's out there...! =)
