Personal background
I love astronomy and science.
I served 20 years in the USAF. Last 6 years stationed in Tucson AZ.Perfect place to study astronomy. I hope to build my own radio scope one day. As for now I have my two optical scopes which I use on a nightly basis. Weather permitting.I also hope to one day be a part of the discovery comming,or at least be here for the day.To be able to say "I knew it all along." is a dream.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1.) I do believe that extraterrestrial life is out there and in our galaxy,Probably as advanced as us and looking for the same answers. I would hope so to make the search half as long to conclusion as proof of exsistance.Probably with in the next 20 to 50 years we will find them by radio observation. Sharing of science and technology could be to our benefit. We could use a boost in medical research as well. What danger is there in listening to radio. Only if we come in direct contact, could it become a danger. Contengencies would be in place for safe contact in space by then I would hope.
2.) We already transmit signals where they go and what happens to them after they leave our system remains to be seen.I just hope that the later more powerful signals sent will beat the early signals to what ever intellegence is out there listening.
3.)What is the equation for intellegent life that has communication ablities. (N = N* fp ne fl fi fc fL) It adds up in there some where. I am part of that equation. I believe in the project and see the potential it has in many applications as a platform for research. Look at the medical research potential. Let the data flow and we can find a cure for anything.Even our own curiosity,Note:1 : desire to know: a : inquisitive interest in others.

Suggestion: If posible, add a list of RA.Dec. to chose work blocks from. Some are better than others for potential finding.
