Personal background
Just another techno-geek that hopes First Contact will somehow happen in my
lifetime. That, and I've seen pix of Arecibo in the Guinness book since 3rd grade,
and had the opportunity to visit the site during a business trip to Puerto Rico.

Would you believe the souvenir shop was closed the day of my visit!!! @#$&%^!!

Somebody owes me a t-shirt!! :-)

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes. When the Govt. is good and ready to disclose such information. Benefits
from such a discovery will include stable operating systems at reasonable prices,
and the flying car. The big drawback will be that, as the most recent species
contacted by off-worlders, we'll be the brunt of lots of jokes and speculation
by late-night intergalactic talking-heads and infotainers.

2. No. Benevolence is something to hope for; not to assume. Sit back and listen
before saying anything.

3. Because the display is designed to make me believe that (I) might actually
find something, and it's currently the best shot I have at the Nobel Prize.
