Personal background
I'm a 22 year old computer nut/general nut and enjoy tons of stuff. Computers, camping, biking, drag racing (doing it, not watching), games, comics, classic cars, and all sorts of other kinds of things. Honestly, if you want a real good description of me, talk to me. =^ P
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm almost sure life is out there, too much space and too much life on this world alone just for us to be the "one life" in the galaxy. Unless the other life in the universe already have messed themselves up more than we have. =^ P
As for dangers and benifits, if they're more intelligent or advanced there's a lot of danger, but a lot to gain too. Danger coming from the fact that ya just never know what will happen.
We should definitely transmit a beacon, I'd use mathematics on the hope of a understanding, and possibly try to illustrate who we are, our intentions, and a general way to find us.
I run it in hopes of being part of the group that finally can go "We found proof!". I love the project and hope to see it keep going until we've found some proof of life out there.
