Personal background |
My SETI@Home history:
- Pentium-1, 233MMX, 'Skunkwaddle' (now broken :\\ ahh skunky...)
- AMD Duron 700 (someone else's now), 'Synfx'
- AMD Athlon XP 2000 (my current home PC), 'Timix'
Future hopes:
- Another 233 (netserver 2nd seti box)
- A lab of 2ghz workstations and a dual 900mhz SPARCii sun server at school (never going to happen, but hey, it doesn't hurt to dream :) |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I honestly don't think we'll contact any alien civs in the next few centuries, if at all. If we do though, I'd like to be able to say I was a part of the project; if not, well, it's a fun hobby, and a SETI participation cert with an impressive number on it would probably be an interesting item to include in one's resumé if seeking an IT job. I admire the initiative taken by Berkeley and it's definitely something to consider doing (I mean, given the choice between giving Windows or SETI your spare CPU cycles... ;). |
