Personal background
I am a 31 year old, white female, professional, married with one 8 year old boy.
I am interested in SETI's programs and I find it arogant of man to believe that somehow we are special and that in all the millions of galaxies out there, there is no life on any planets. I certainly believe there is.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe that ET life exists, however, my problem is that if they have the capability to travel to our galaxy, why would they want to show themselves to us. The military would treat them at a threat to the World. (whether they were harmless or not) THey would be treated as labrats not as visitors. So I am not afraid of them coming to earth, I am afraid of what we would do to them if they did.

I think a beacon would be a great idea, however, I think it should say proceed with caution "ignorant military will shoot first ask questions later" If a beacon could be sent then a non-partisan and objective person should be in charge of it.

I was running seti at home and had logged a lot of hours but then I had to re-boot my entire computer so I lost all that data, so I will have to start all over. I like to think I am contributing in some way but I don't really understand what I am doing to help. I have to download it again and start over.
