Personal background
Hello fellow searchers,

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe the chance that extraterrestrial life exists is huge and maybe the answer to 'the question' has been collected and nobody has realised what we have found. Maybe it has found us.

My first reaction to the question "Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find?" was initially yes, we certainly should be transmitting a powerful signal into outer-space and maybe 'they' would have a better chance of finding earth. Slowly thus conjured images of extremities, do 'we' want visitors? What might happen if the beacon actually worked?

Sure it would be exciting but do we really want to know and do we want it here?

So why do I run SETI@home? So that I can get my 1000 work units certificate, in turn attracting members of the opposite sex. Sure you're probably laughing right now thinking out-loud... 'what sort of female would go for that?' Only the best my friend, you wait and see :P

Anyway, I think the SETI project is an awesome idea, well done to those involved. What's in store for parallel processing next? Wait and see i guess.
