Personal background
I've been running Seti@Home for about 5 years now, and between this username and a previous one I calculated over 1000 classic work units on an old Pentium II during that time.

Just upgraded to an AMD Athlon 64 4000+ with XP Pro. Finally retired that old P2 running Win98.

As for me, while my PC is searching for radio signals from space I create radio signals here on Earth: I'm a master control operator for an NBC-affiliate TV station in Virginia. 5 years at this station, 12 years (as of June 2005) in Television, and 15 years total (as of August 2005) in broadcasting.

In my spare time I ride roller coasters all over the US, and can usually be found standing in line for Apollo's Chariot.

And due to the cost of the new PC mentioned above, I'm going to be driving my 1996 Neon for the forseeable future. 225,000 miles and counting, that's far enough to make it to the Moon at its closest distance to Earth!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Why do I run S@H? Because an idle computer is wasted electricity.
