Personal background
Hello

My name is Jacek. I'm 39 years old and I live with my wife and daughter in Krakow, Poland. I strongly invite you to come and see Krakow (Cracow on other maps). It's one of the most beautifull cities in the world. And I don't write it because I live here :) It's true.

I love to read SF books and listen to music with good quality (not an audiophile but nearly :) .

Do you have your favorite character? For me it's absolutely Eeyore. Do you know who is an pesimist? It's an optimist, good informed :)

I started to process WUs on P166MMX (about 60 hours of CPU time), than Duron 750 (9-10 hours). Much better :) Later was Celeron 1.1.

I would write something more, but... do you know where can I buy a few additional hours to each day? :)))
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think, that there is an inteligent life somewhere in space. And some day we (or our grand-grand-grand-children :)) will discover it. That's why we (or rather our machines) process workunits one by one, isn't it? But will it be any benefits from this discover. First of all we won't be so sad and alone in this giant universe. And maybe we'll get a little wiser? But shall we shake hand of ET one day? I don't think so. It's rather too far. And I don't know if we would have good subjects to talk with an aliens. There's a great book about it: Fiasco by Stanislaw Lem. Read it necessarily (and write to me if you liked it).

Yes, we're still sending signals about us into space. In UHF band Earth is lighter than Sun. If somebody is watching our piece of Galaxy, he'll notice it for shure. But if They'll can select and decode one signal, especially TV transmission (everyone who knows something about know, how strange and illogical structure it has :)))) they have my aknowledgement.

Why am I a part of Seti@home project? It's great, when you can add your straw to this fascinating adventure (even if comp fans in the middle of the night are a little noisy :)))
