ET real?
Well the figures make it a real possibility, I don’t have any doubts about extraterrestrial life existing somewhere, I'm sceptical about so called UFO's and the like but I think ET is out there...
Since we're looking for signals, we must be expecting them to be pretty advanced so who says they wont find us first? If we ever did find advanced life out there, more advanced than us... It could be either the greatest discovery or the biggest mistake humankind will ever make.
Beacons...
A physical beacon or a transmitted signal? Either way it will take years to get anywhere.
There's so much signal junk out in space, that even if an alien race was sending a signal, we haven't found it. So if we sent out a beacon whose to say they wouldn't have just as much trouble as us?
SETI@Home...
I think it's a great idea, there's so much computing power on the planet and SETI@home is a great way to use it.
