if we think that there is no extra terrestrial life, then we are so vain that it hurts. There is life out there, in some other galaxay. I'm not sure if we will ever discover it, except maybe in our after life. Benefits include new sources of energy, and advances in medicine. Dangers include total annhilation of earth.
