There are so many stars in the sky!
If only 0,000000000000000000001% of all these stars have a planet like our Home (-> called Earth) and if only 0,000000000000000000001% of all these Planets have intelligent lifeforms, then we will find Billions of different civilisations !!!
2.)
Why not? Not everybody could be an bad one (like these little men from "Mars Attacks"). And if bad one get our transmissions, it will take a long time until they are on earth.
