Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home

I think extraterrestrial life does exist, how intelligent, technologically advanced or friendly they are, I don't know. They could be more advanced than us, but they could also be less advanced. Most people seem to assume that ET's are more advanced than us.

I sincerely hope that when we do finally meet someone or something that is not native to earth that they are friendly.
I don't really know whether we should transmit a beacon, it could be asking for trouble, then again it could help another friendly species find us.

If we were to do it, I think that the information that we send should be very basic, so that it would be easy to understand, ie. a mathematical number or something like that.
I run SETI@home because I do believe that we aren't the only people in this universe, and that the SETI@home project is a really good way of contributing to helping find other life.
