Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1) I don't believe that it's possible that humans are the only intelligent life forms in the universe. It's just seems impossible. Does that mean that there must be extraterrestrial life? I guess so, but in what form? That I don't know... But how will humans discover it? Maybe because I use the SETI software on my computer :)) But I can't say anything about the possible benefits and/or dangers of such a discovery. Will it be hostile? If it's truly intelligent then why would it be? But then again: why not?

2) Should we transmit a beacon? Maybe a signal with Jerry Springer episodes. That will scare all hostile aliens away.

3) I use the SETI software just for fun and to maybe help a tiny, little bit in learning more about the universe.
