Personal background
Hi,
I'm a software engineer for a small space engineering company in The Netherlands. It is exciting to participate in a project like SETI.
Hobbies include astronomy, genealogy, music (violin), swimming, and of course my work (programming).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I think it is very likely that ET exists, and I think we will certainly find them when we start travelling outside of our own solar system, if not before. Give us another 300 years.
2. Yes, let them know we're here. Send them some music by Bach.
3. I run S@H because I believe we might find something. We may need to change the way we look though, or at least add new ways to collect and analyse data. I understand there's almost an "overcapacity problem" now, so let's figure out how to use that extra capacity for something else than just redundancy.
