Personal background
I am David Schilling and I live in Almere, the Netherlands.
I was born in 1963 in Amsterdam, where I grew up and lived for about 30 years.
In 1991 I married in Sao Paulo, Brazil, because that is where my wife comes from. one year after our son, Paulinho, was born.
He always travels with us around the world. He is just as interested in traveling as his parents...
My hobbies are working on computers, astronomy, watching movies and traveling. I have been in the following countries so far: Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Malta, Germany, East Germany (when this still existed), England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Iceland, USA (the following states: New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, DC, Verginia, North Carolina, Minnesota and Utah), Brazil, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Israel, United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam and Australia.
There are definitely many more to come....
My other hobby is....SETI. I even dedicated my site to this great project. Take a look at http://www.xs4all.nl/~dims
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am sure there is extraterrestrial life, but I have no idea how long it will take before we will discover it. If we do find it, than the benefits are that we can focus on real deep space traveling and meet other life. The danger could be that they are hostile....however, there is so much violence on our own planet that aliens could be worried as well.
SETI is a great opportunity for me to help searching for life, so my PC's are still crunching. To end with some words from the book Contact, written by Cals Sagan: "If it is just us, it seems like an awful waste of space...."
