Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm almost certain intelligent extraterrestrial life exists. There are so many galaxies with billions of suns in our Universe. It would be arrogant to think that we're the at the apex of creation.

I'm not sure advanced interstellar civilizations use radio waves to communicate, but am very willing to help SETI find them if they do.

If other intelligent life is similar to humans in temperment, we should probably keep quiet. It would be dangerous to transmit a beacon. Any extraterrestrial civilization that has mastered interstellar or even intergalactic travel might view us as cattle (food), or maybe even bacteria. However, they might be more morally advanced than we are, and beyond the petty differences we currently exhibit.

If we did transmit a beacon, we should just make our presence known, and say we're willing to communicate with and learn from any interstellar neighbor we contact.
