I live in the Cleveland, Ohio, USA area along the shore of Lake Erie. It's a beautiful region of the Greater Cleveland area with great views of the lake and sunsets. I am a Physician Assistant (PA) in a local hospital. I've been in the medical field for 30 years, primarily assisting in surgery and providing acute and general care for surgical patients on the floors. I am married (July 14, 1973) and have two adult children and three grandchildren, yet I was born on September 26, 1952! Hobbies include photography, restoring a 1960 Thunderbird, biking, hiking, gardening, woodworking, astronomy and science (both fact & fiction).
I think that the individuals who came up with the idea to use millions of "down-time" computers for mass analysis of data should receive some kind of reconition. I am excited to be a part of this research. It's fun, too! The competition aspect provides some spice to the mundane. I hope contact is made in my lifetime, but if not, I'll see you all in Heaven, and then we will know for sure! |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

| First heard about SETI@Home in January, 2001. I have over 450 units completed now and plug away at more still. The possibilty of life elsewhere is probably very high. But, perhaps the good Lord separated all the civilizations by enough distance to allow us all to "mature" sufficiently before contact so we don't anihilate each other. If this is the case, we have a long time to wait. At the current stage of our development on Earth, I would be truly chagrined to make contact now. We slaughter each other, our children, people who merely look different (there's a good case for xenophobia being a detriment to space exploration) and we don't take care of each other well. How are we supposed to deal with another civilization? God help those that we contact. A cold virus would be the least of their concerns. Peace and God bless! |
