Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Ans 1. Yes, by our knowledge, there should be at least one planet has the similar situation as the earth. But we don't know where it is, how far it is... When human will discover it depends on science development.
The result of such a discovery is dicey, it also depends on each side's science development level, and creature's evolution. If we find they are more advanced than us, we may feel dangeous; and if they are primitive, we might be their "God". However, it is worthy to try.

Ans 2. No, I don't think it a good idea.
i). The possibility for others which is similar to human to find the beacon is very small.
ii). Like insect's photokinesis, such guide may "lure" what we don't want to see.

Ans 3. I'm curious on the extraterrestrial life. I don't know whether this project will incur a great change for people but it worth to try.
If anyone can explain the theory of the software, as how it works, how can it find any signal from extraterrestrial life etc., that will be much helpful.
The other suggestion is please publish the newest discovery in this field, and now fans may be able to discuss through the mailist.
