Personal background
I'm a single parent from the heart of the midwest, near Kansas City Missouri.
I've been using Seti@home for some time now, even keeping it on my older computer and running it on two puters now whenever they are not in use by me, or my soon to be 9 year old son (he's the envy of his classmates having a pentium class computer!).
I enjoy model railroading in my spare time as well as fishing when I get the chance to do some but with a little one around, there isn't much in the way of spare time for anything!
I'm disabled, with a heart condition, so I don't work any longer, I was management for a retail store, heading up two departments in fact.
As stated, I am single, and at present, not involved-but always looking!
I think this project, which brings our world together for one united goal, will make history, as the first of its kind, and if, by chance, we are fortunate enough to actually find the life that logically must exist beyond our little blue marble in space, so much the better-but bringing the world together, for a peaceful goal, is important, and will be remembered long after this project sees it's end. Thanks for letting me be a small part of that.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Personally, I think it's inevitable that there is other intelligent life in thsi universe, and only a matter of time before either we find it, or it finds us.
Let's just hope our leaders, whoever they may be, have enough sence to see the new life that makes contact with us, as something not to be feared, as sadly, is the human nature to fear the unknown.
Take the time to make the unknown, known, and we shall all benefit from it.
Lastly, though this isn't related to Seti, or the possibility of life out there somewhere in our universe, I wish to make note of the hero's of September 11th, 2001, and to their families, and all affected by this cowardly terrist inflicted tragedy.
God Bless America, and the free world-let's stop terrorism!
Be well and stay safe.
