Personal background
Hi my name is John, I'm 44 years old and live in beautiful Honolulu, HI. - U.S.A. Technology has always fascinated me hence my job in IT. Ever since I was a kid I've wondered how things worked. As a child I would contemplate how the light bulb created light and how Television worked, electricity, and electronics. I love watching the military jets practice at the nearby bases. The ocean is a vast beautiful body not too dissimilar from space. I followed the Pioneer projects, Voyager I and Voyager II, Sojourn, and many others throughout the years. It captivated and fascinated me the huge challenges we need to undertake to visit other planets. The shear vastness of the Universe the incredible distances even for light to travel. Most people are just concerned about what every day life throws them. Its so insignificant compared to whats out there Yes, its true we have to deal with every day life as humans we strive for knowledge and knowledge will lead us to the stars. Thanks.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have been running SETI on my computers since I heard about it I believe in late 1998. I waited until it was available to most everyone and download it on May 20th of 1999. The concept is grandiose and I cant thank The SETI Team enough for allowing me to be involved. Its so exciting like a present that doesnt get old. The computers get faster and the file uploads and downloads increase. I definitely think there are other beings out there. We dont know much about time travel and space. For all we know the Extra Terrestrials Beings people claim to see may be us in the future. There is so much we dont know anything is possible. Everyone runs around worrying about where there next Latte will come from and may never stop and ponder where we came from and where we are going. I think weve already been visited by being from other planets. I believe they have guided some of our ancestors in the past. I also believe there may have been some type of cross breeding that took place. What if a being from another planet crashed on Earthwhat do you think they would do. Of course they would make the best of it. Just as we monitor our wildlife, beings from other planets may be monitoring us. Making sure we dont screw up. Intervening when necessary and trying not to alter the balance of natural selection. If and when these Extra Terrestrial Beings make themselves known the benefits would be that no country is the Top Dog. We would then realize we are now below someone or something else in the scheme of things. I guess that could be bad if these Extra Terrestrials decided to use us as slaves of some sort. We did it to other peoples and countries, what makes it any different. Im sure it would wake people up. I look at that as natural selection for the Universe. Thanks again
