Personal background
I'm a 21-year-old senior at Oklahoma City University, and one of the few girls that can attribute the name "computer nerd" to myself. My fellow computer nerds enjoy having conversations with me, because I remind them that there is hope for womankind in the computer cosmos. :) My favorite games include: Return to Castle Wolfenstein, the Sims, AoE: Clone Wars, Worms Armeggedon, and Doom. I would like to encourage my fellow Seti-at-Home users to look out the window next time they are in an airplane at night, especially while flying over a big city. It looks like the motherboard of a computer! Have a happy day!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes, I think extraterrestrial life exists. Our race would be arrogant to believe, just because we inhabit a measley planet, that we are the best and only intelligent life in the universe and beyond. But I think it will take a while to find it, and even longer for people to accept it. Look how many years it has taken to believe that women, or people of another race, are as intelligent as white males!

Sure, we should transmit a beacon for others to find. The only problem is, what should we send? I think it could easily be misread and misused.

I run Seti@home because I like my computer to do productive things all the time. This screen saver isn't just a pretty bouncing bear running around on the screen. This is benefitting the research of fellow scientists! I think it's a great project, and I am proud to contribute my 60 data units to this project! :)
