Profile: Kit Waldon

Personal background
Well, I'm a single GWM, living in the southern USA along the Gulf of Mexico. I'm 37 years old and have been single for two and a half years. I spend most of my time working and most of my income supporting my family. No, I don't have children... I support my parents who have been w/o work or income for almost ten years. I have been avid reader of science journals and science fiction for as long as I can remember. I'm an amateur writer and work with a couple of PBEM groups.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm a firm believer that there must be other intelligent life out in the universe. I think just the discovery of another civilization would be the jolt that humanity needs to get out of the rut we are in.
I do think some sort of beacon should be set up, at least until we are discovered and then find out what life is like for the space-faring races.
I've run SETI@Home for over two years. I think the project is an admirable one, but I wish more information about the project, what results from the work provided by the home users has discovered and a good map of the stars, with all the data our work has uncovered about them should be published.
