Personal background
Greetings!
I am an Episcopal priest with Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Sacramento, Calif.
For me, finding other intelligent life in the universe (or any life) is one more sign of God's abundance and love for creation. I am intrigued and fascinated by the search for life elsewhere, the search for human origins on earth, the time-and-space explorations of physics, and all of the wonders of scientific exploration.
My wife and I are avid skiiers and mountaineers -- we love exploring the nearby Sierra. I am training for climbing Mt. Shasta (14,000 feet) next summer for my 50th birthday (I climbed it for my 40th). I am also a fly fisherman (catch-and-release). A number of environmental causes are dear to my heart, especially the restoration of Hetch Hetchy Valley in Yosemite. I consider the scientist who are doing work on global warming to be modern-day prophets (and like the prophets of old, kings seldom listen).
Anyway, good luck with this and I am happy to play a small part.
Blessings to all,
The Rev. James Richardson
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes other life exists. When and how we discover it -- I have no clue. It will probably be when we least expect it. Possible benefits? See above.
2- Sure.
3. See above. Suggestion: What is it that is running on my screen and what is the program doing?
