Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
We exist so someone else MUST! I'm not so egotistical to believe we're the only sentient beings in this universe. Possibilities are they maybe using other types of communication we havent evolved as of yet. Benefits would include sharing our knowledge and learning more about the universe. More about us. If we send a beacon it should contain both our forms of mathematics and or the construct of our principal languages. So if they do contact us, we will already have some common bases to work with. I run SETI to help find what's out there sooner, glory be dammned...let's find and talk to our neighbors!
