Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that extraterrestrial life exists somewhere. Will humans ever discover it? Not at the rate we are going, there needs to be more interest in space travel. The benefits of such an encounter would depend on whether the contacted species was more or less advanced than us. The dangers are many. What if the life we find is aggressive or carries some hidden plague.

Humans already transmit plenty of information into space. Although, anyone that intercepts our radio communications will probably not get a good image of us.

I run SETI@home because there is always the possibility that one of the radio signals recorded will have something in it.
