Personal background
G'day,

I'm a 35 Yo Aussie.
I'm an IT geek supporting the Queensland State Government.
Big on on-line gaming and a member of the Battlefield 1942 ]PK[ Panzer Kunst Clan. BTW, Panzer Kunst is Germanian for Armoured Artform.
It takes it's name from the Japanese Anime 'Battle Angel Alita'.
Yup, I'm a big Sci-Fi/Anime fan with over 300 video's and 400 DVD's.
I support the Seti@Home project by running it on my home PC's of which I have 2 (soon to be 3) running 24x7. I only use one. The other is just sitting there crunching data - slowly.
Anyhoo, it would be pretty sweet to find some ETI and check them out.
So that's just a bit of a spiel from me.

Cheers
D.Mon
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Question: Do I think ETI exists?
Answer: I think it must do in some form.
Like they say in the movie 'Contact' - If there isn't, it certainly is a great waste of space.

Question: Will the human race stuff up an ET relationship?
Answer: I hope we don't jinx it by some bit of our own space junk covered in bacteria and stuff hitting a planet system and wiping out an interstella population.
And if we did, I certainly hope they don't trace it back to us and give us a cosmic back-hander.

Question: Should we send a signal into space?
Anwser: Why not. So long as we turn it off if we are asked to by our interstella neighbors.

Question: What should the signal consist of?
Answer: Just some princibal mathamatics I think should be fine. Binary is pretty basic stuff. Maybe from there we could include some facts about ourselves and a return mail address. I would be carefull though in case an ETI is a bit more violent than us. Don't want us to be invaded.

Question: Why do this?
Answer: I hope to make a small difference by contributing to the greater SETI project.

Question: What would I like to see with the project?
Answer: I'd like to see the data checked for things such as pulsars. If a new star is found, I'd like to see whoever's PC crunched the data have their name placed on it. I think it would be kewl to have my name on a star.
