Personal background
I'm a middle-aged wife/mother/software trainer and instructional systems designer who believes that there really is something/someone "somewhere out there." And I want to be part of the search.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think I've been WAY too influenced by Star Trek and Star Wars to express myself rationally about the search for life beyond this planet, but I feel very deeply that we have to keep trying to connect with beings other than ourselves. To me, that means we have to keep trying to get along, not only with one another, but as preparation for discovering we are part of something universally much larger and grander than we originally thought. SETI *has* to keep trying to find them, the other inhabitants of habitable worlds. I run SETI at home so I can be part of the "trek" of my era, which at this point consists of the search.
