Personal background
I am 54 years old, married, and have 3 grown sons. I have been a Tool & Die
Maker for 30 years. My sons have grown up immersed in Science, Mathematics, and respect for all life.

About the seti switch to BOINC.....after "8086" completed work units, which of course do not show up in the transition to BOINC, I have attempted to make the move to BOINC, unsuccessfully I might say.

Yes, with various machines running Windoz and Linux, and internet connections from full T-1's to dialups, I have totally suspended myself and my machines from the Seti Search. Personally, I'm disappointed with the move to BOINC....maybe it should be BOINk??

Anyway, I'll check back in a couple of months 'maybe', and see if Boinc has smoothed out any.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that even in the span between the demise of the dinosaurs and now,
there could have been several populations on our planet. Our length of
recorded history is so incredibly short, and with the various life populations
that we know have existed over the millenia, it seems ludicrous to me that
there have not been other human populations to exist here.

Is life out there? YES ! I feel that it is impossible that there not be other
life "out there". Certainly we are not alone. We should try to remember that
most all answers to questions are based upon technology as it exists for us
today. Facts are only facts, until proven otherwise. Scarey huh?

My guide through life: If a human being can form the thought, no matter how
seemingly bizare and far fetched, it could become reality. The far fetched
ideas are just ahead of the technology. After all, could a cave man have viewed
a harvest moon only 10,000 years ago, and thought of maybe walking around up
there?

Were there Jet Liners flying across our skys only 5,000,000 years ago?
