Personal background
I love reading. I have been reading since the age of 3. I have long been fascinated by everything outside of the "accepted norm", so I have read numerous books on numerous subjects, especially "e.t.". I love laying out and looking at the stars. You see so much happening out there, if you look closely enough. Computers, nature, reading, learning - these are my hobbies! Once in a while, I even get into coin or rock collecting, but I'm not a fanatic about either of those. It's just something fun to do once in a while!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe "e.t." exists. I personally believe it is rather self-centered or egocentric to sit here thinking our species is the only intelligent life in the entire universe. I forget who said it, but I agree with the sentiment "the greatest proof of intelligent life out there, is that they haven't tried to contact us yet". I think there could be greater benefits to our contact with another civilization, then there would be dangers. I think we're more dangerous to another species, then they would be to us.

I run SETI@home because it is my strongest desire that we (believers) find solid "proof" that can be handed to people - something in "black and white". We can say "here, look (or listen) - this is a signal from an alien species!" I think this project is an extremely phenomenal idea! Imagine the time lost if we didn't have John Q. Public out there helping analyze the data!
