I am a male who resides in Johnstown, PA. I have always been interested in astronomy and science fiction. Needless to say I am a long time star trek fan. I am married and have 2 children which are also married. I am an IT professional working at a community hospital. I think it is wonderful computers can do something important with their spare CPU time, other than just sitting there moving a screen saver.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
It is wonderful being part of a global community of people with the same interest in life outside of our own solar system. It is amazing to think of the total combined computing power of all who are also participating in this project.
I wish there would be more governmental support of the project but i am also excited to see so many people from all walks of life participating in this important work. As a suggestion, I think it would be nice to receive a monthly or at least quarterly report on what types of signals have been found and where they have been found - possibly shown on a star chart.
