Profile: Carole Trout

Personal background
I am originally from St. Louis, Missouri and have lived in Richardson, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, since 1974. I am a psychotherapist. I have been married since 1965 and I have 2 grown sons, a daughter-in-law and two granddaughters. My sons names are Chris and Tony. Tony Trout is also a member of this group. My hobbies include reading science fiction, espionage and mysteries. I have always been interested in science and the quest for intelligent life in the universe. As a member of the Baha'i Faith I am interested in peace and unity and the compatibility of science and religion. I hope we make contact during my lifetime. Carole
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I do think extraterrestrial life exists. I have no idea how we will discover it and I am looking forward to the first discovery. Of course, as with everything in life, there will be benefits and dangers. I hope humanity as a whole has matured by the time we discover other beings. The dangers will be in our either being too naive or too exploitive. The benefits could be that humanity will use the discovery as a way to unite and we will learn things that we can't even imagine.
2. Yes, humanity should transmit a beacon for others to find. I hope it will include our best scientific ideas and our best social ideas.
3. I run Sete@home because it is my small way of helping with the project which I think is of service to humanity.
