| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

1.I dont know. I sure hope there is someone out there waiting to be discovered. But with our technological level im not sure if that discovery will become real for at least 50 years from now. If that extraterrestrial lifeform is more advanced than us (wich is very likely) then i can only say that the benefits are on our side. It depends on us if we are ready to accept those benefits for our own good. And of course, the danger comes in many ways, probably waiting just around the corner. We cant predict that the discovered extraterrestrial civilization has peaceful thoughts or not.
2.Yes, we should transmit, but i dont know if that is possible. If it is then the information we could send should be just like the one that is stored on the golden discs aboard Voyager 1 and 2.
3.I am amazed by everything that remindes me of the Universe. And of course i can make a small but faithful contribution to this project. Im not into technical details but i can tell the program is just fine. Maybe this little effort from each of us will lead to whats best for humanity and for our planet. Once again, congratulations and hope to see soon a final candidate for the greatest discovery of mankind. |
