Personal background
Well, I'm from Toledo, Ohio and I'm 19, I work at Toys R us. Hobbies are computers mainly. I program, I web design, I make graphics, I chat, and play online videogames. I also build computers and am A certified. When I'm not on the computer, I like to bike. I collect DVDs. I've got a kick-ass stereo system. I like to study space and extraterrestrial phenomenon. The Doors is my favorite band. I love wolves. I will add more when I can think more clearly, lol.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes I believe extraterrestrial life exists, because if it didn’t...it would be an awful waste of space up there. I can’t tell you when or how but I'm sure we will. Especially since this SETI@home experiment seems pretty good as far as processing data. It takes the main workload off of the real scientists so they can concentrate on the results instead of crunching the numbers themselves. As far as benefits and dangers I really don’t see any that would be immediate except for the possibility of us (humans) getting paranoid and chaotic. The extraterrestrials would probably be too far away for any immediate benefits or dangers.

2. I believe that we should. We should send a lot of interesting data. I'm not saying send the complete Encyclopedias but just good ideals and information about us as a human race.

3. I run it for 3 reasons. A) I think its cool. B) I have been interested in aliens for a long time. And C) I hope that I'm the one that finds the first good signal, hehehehehe. It seems to be a good stable way for letting everyone help if they are interested in it. I’m even thinking about upgrading my Internet connection to a cable net line and buying an old junker computer just to run the SETI@home software 24/7.
