| I am (depending on when you read this) a senior atConcordia University Wisconsin (www.cuw.edu )majoring in Computer Science (www.cs.cuw.edu). I am a self proclaimed geek and love talking about various aspects of computer science, ie parallel computing, security, and artificial intelligence. When not in "geek mode" as my friends call it I enjoy playing guitar, mountain biking, and debating politics and philosiphy. |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

Do I believe in extraterrestrial life?
Simply, no. I believe that the true Triune God created all life and that the account of creation in Genisis is true. No, I'm not being ignorant of scientific research, in fact I feel that logic and science point to evidences of a creator for more info go to www.icr.org. As far as the massiveness of the Universe, I believe that an omnipotent God would have the power to create such a huge Universe, and that such a huge creation as our Universe can be seen as a humbling signature of His power and care for us as his creation.
Why then do I run SETI@home?
It looks really cool when I have the screen savers goin on my machines. Ok, that's not quite enough. I also do like the great example of parallel computing that SETI demonstrates. In addition, in the time that SETI has been in existence, it has only supported my cosomologic beliefs.
The future of SETI??
I believe that the paradigm of SETI@home can be used in a great many areas. As mentioned in a recent article in Crossroads (ACM Student Magazine) areas such as genetics and finance can benefit from similar computing methods. |
