Personal background |
I have worked in several industries. I have been an aviator in the Army. I flew the UH-1H and OH-58 helicopters. I have been in sales. I sold cars, home-improvements and door-to-door selling other miscellaneous junk. I was the managing editor of the San Antonio Computer Society in the late 80's and early 90's. I was a BBS Admin when 2400 baud modems were the must have item for the rich folks. I have been in printing for the last 15 years. I also am the network/system administrator and webmaster for my current company. I am now going back to college for my electrical engineering degree at the Cleveland Institute of Electronics - World College. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Do I think extraterrestrial life exists? Absolutely. Do I think that it is intelligent life, and that they are technically advanced and if so, that they are close enough for us to even know it? ???? That's why I am running SETI@home. I belive in SETI@home. I have all this computing power. I started with just my one system at work. I used the graphical client, didn't even know enough to turn off the graphics of the screensaver. Operated this way for about two months when it occured to me to look into some better alternatives. I know have the text client running on my 12 system network. Most are PII 350's, have one Atlon 800, one PIII 500 home-brew server, and one dual PII 450 Dell Server (running on both CPUs), all running as an NT Service. I am just glad that the internet and computers in general have allowed us to complete this marvelous task. I can't wait to see what the future has in store for us. |
