Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI@home is probably the brightest idea when it comes to actually searching for extraterrestial life. As the size and complexity of the Galaxy and Universe grows more comprehendable the possibility for extraterrestial life (Intelegent or not) grows with it. It would be foolish for us to think that we are alone in the universe. SETI@home provides a way to those that wish to help but can not devote large amounts of time or resources in the search.
It is unfortunate that although we may be able to prove the existance of intelligent life during my life time actually communicating with them or interacting with them will not happen until long after I am gone. But just to know would be wonderous enough for me.
