| I live in South Florida with my wife & 6 cats. I'm a computer programmer by profession, but a poet and musician by avocation. I'm a follower of the Wiccan Path, and see this as a way of affirming my confidence in Her. |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I've always been interested in science and scientific pursuits, and am happy to contribute my spare processing power in the search for ETI.
I am confident that extraterrestrial life exists. I'm not sure that humans will discover it - I'm more inclined to think that it will discover us, if it hasn't already. I hope we don't discover it as a result of our activities... we don't have a very good track record for dealing with civilizations that are less advanced than we are at the time of contact!
I can only hope that when this encounter happens (as I'm sure it will, in time) that the beings we meet are more benevolent than the Old World explorers were when encountering the New World.
I run SETI at home because I enjoy being able to contribute in whatever way I can. I think the project is a worthy one, and one that may in time serve to link the diverse communities of humans across the width of the world. |
