Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
There is no doubt in my mind that extraterrestial life exists; it is a matter of where they are in evolutionary development that should be of interest to us. Too far backward on the evolutionary ladder will make them appear as slugs to us and too far forward will...well, you get the idea. There must be a common basis for communication or we must look elsewhere.
