Profile: DRP

Personal background
I'm an Emergency Physician in Minneapolis, MN. I love science, science fiction, computers, golf, archeology, and astronomy. I have a wife and 3 sons, and we all follow the SETI project. I currently have 2 PC's running the program.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have no doubt that extraterrestrial life exists, but the question is in what form? It's possible there is another similar civilization out there, the question will always be "can we find it?" I doubt faster than light travel, so actual contact would amaze me. I feel it's more likely we can find evidence based on their technology such as radio waves.

Clearly we should transmit a beacon! That's what we're looking for from them! We should include data such as our looks, our world, age of civilization, technology such as limited space flight, and our desire for a reply.

I run SETI because I have the desire to know. If they are out there, it would be nice to know, and to structure a reply. I'd like to prove we are not a fluke, a quirk of nature, and that life can occur elsewhere.
I think the project is great and will continue to support it and spread the word.
