Profile: Neuromancer

Personal background
From the name I'm using, it's quite obvious that I'm a science fiction fanatic, and an even bigger William Gibson fanatic. I've been into sci-fi all my life, and I'm now in my mid-20's. I am not saying that I'm smart or anything; all i'm saying is I love science and will always will. Also, I'm very much into media, especially books and film. And I believe that sci-fi is the best fusion of media and science. I have read Gibson's "Neuromancer" twice and am planning to read it again some time soon, and I've seen "The Matrix" about a dozen times. I have the complete Star Wars trilogy (Episodes IV, V and VI), and the whole Alien Legacy as well. IF I get enough cash, I just might buy the whole boxed collection of all the X-Files seasons. Are you starting to picture me now?

I only discovered SETI@home less than an hour ago, and I regret not bumping into it before. SETI@home obviously blends computers and aliens perfectly, and it's truly a rush for someone like me to participate in something this big. Hopefully, we will discover extraterrestrial life forms soon. I just pray that they're nothing like H.R. Giger's ALIEN.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes, extraterrestrial life does exist, because if they don't, then it's all just a waste of space. I cannot say, though, when humans will discover it. It could be between today and a millenia from now. As for the benefits and dangers, it depends if the life forms we discover are like Spielberg's E.T or Stephen King's Mr. Gray in "Dreamcatcher". If it's the former, then we're very lucky. If, unfortunately, it's the latter, then God help us all.
2. Yes. We should send info about the history of the earth. Not just of humans, but of the entire evolution. Packed into some sort of zip file, if possible. :)
3. I want to contribute to the discovery of aliens, because I believe - no, I KNOW - that they are out there. This is definitely a project worth working for.
