Personal background
I am a computer tech, a Linux fan, and a former science teacher. I am running multiple sessions of seti with a shell script. This doesn't hinder the performance of Linux.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The universe is so very vast that its dimensions are almost immeasurable. I doubt that we are alone in this vast universe and I just hope that the aliens are friendly and don't think of us as food or to be used for science experiments.
I am running seti with some of my friends from work. It is better than wasting the CPU clock cycles by being idle. My contributions are part of a large scale science experiment in the hopes of finding out more about our universe. Finding someone out there would be the find of the century and possibly have us committed to the nearest mental institution.
