Personal background
I studied philosophy, politics, psychology and law in germany. My relation to astronomy is not very professional ;-) To be honest, it consists of viewing science-fiction like star-trek. My favourite is "hitchikers guide to the galaxy". My hobby is programming computers, mainly database applications, and reading philosophy books. Not to forget i also like cooking ;-) and eating of course. WHoch does not mean that it's visible when you see me :-)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have no doubt, that there is extraterrestrial life. But maybe it will be hard or impossible to find, because of the definition. Humankind thinks that if "they" exist we would have the possibility to recognize them. But maybe, we do not have the ability to do so. Maybe it is like someone who is blind would like to search for a specific colour. He could hardly be succesfull. The other miracle in the game is the range of the universe. I think it's neccessary to develope faster technologies for spaceships to to a next step.

I run seti, because i think it's a possible way to find.
