Personal background
30 year old Marine, fly F/A-18 for a living, not the worst job in the world! Live in San Diego, CA. Hobbies include working out, playing with my 1 year old daughter, working around the house, and there is a lot to do. I'm sure I have others, just haven't had the time these last few years.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
They are out there, it is impossible to think otherwise. Consider how many galaxies are in our visible universe, now try and guess how many separate individual universes there are!? I don't think the human mind can possible understand the size (i.e., dividing by zero type of answers) of space, nor the shear number of hospitable (everything is relative) planets. And, oh by the way, oxygen is a rather caustic gas, and water has some of the most unusal principles. This is a bit difficult to understand for us mere humans, but like I eluded to our ability to grasp ideas is finite. An Alien life form may pass our planet by because it's too wet, or too warm, or possible too cold. Again weird ideas indeed. What I am saying is "Intelligent" life forms may be absolutely different in form, size, constitution, i.e., maybe not even Carbon based. Maybe, there is life under the frozen surface of Io. Ah, I ramble again...
