| I'm an IT support consultant in England, with interests in classic cars & guitars. I have a dual PII 350 which puts out 1.5 units a day, and a recently acquired P4 1.8Ghz which is doing between 4 & 6 units a day :-). |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I first started with SETI after seeing the Jodie Foster film 'Contact' (I wonder how many other members joined after seeing the film?). I have always had an interest in astronomy, and had always wondered about the chances of intelligent life elsewhere, but I think that while it might be commonplace over the whole universe, I'm not so sure it would be so common just in this individual galaxy. For all we know, we could be the only intelligent race for 2 million light years!
Thats where SETI becomes important, because at the moment, we just don't know. Opinions aren't facts. SETI is helping to gain more facts, and I'm proud to have a small part in helping the cause. |
