Personal background
Hello,

my name is Steve, I'm 31 and from germany. I work as a network-administrator at our local city-office.

I started to participate with seti@home in March 2002 with two of my home-computers but paused some month later to spend my unused cpu-time for a cancer-research project. Inspired by the movie "Contact" I started seti@home again on 10/07/2002 and hope to be the lucky one that identifies the strange signal from Wega ;-)

Meanwhile I continue my work on my own web-project www.westkueste-usa.de which describes and illustrates my vacation in the southwest of the US. You find over 300 high-resolution images (1600x1200), lots of webcams and tons of infos there. Feel free to take a look...

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm pretty sure that there is extraterrestrial life and I'm pretty sure that we will discover it, but I also believe that it needs alot more time before this will happen. There is enough time and places where life could exist. I think that civilisations like ours, that has build up in just a short time, will come and go across the whole universe - not human like, but intelligent.
