I am a native Rhode Islander and a graduate of Providence College '74 with a degree in Liberal Arts. I am 58 years old and have had a lifelong facination with the universe surrounding us. I am a retired US Army Infantry Officer (Major) and have a Private Pilot license with over 2000 hours of flight time. I have been a computer consultant for over 25 years.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Strictly from a scientific point of view, I feel that the odds the universe is populated with other sentient beings is overwhelming. Due to the vastness of space, the question of whether we will ever meet face to face remains somewhat ambiquous.
I do feel that a program such as SETI@home is a step in the right direction both scientifically and monitarily.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
