Hey...that makes me an alien!
I am not an expert on SETI...but have been trying to make my computers run well with it by following other people's advice.
Using at work:
SETI Queue...for a few computers around work
SETI Driver
SETI Watch--(rarely)
and run SETI with the command line version
running on 2 computers, one with a dual processor.
Have an Athlon1800 at home crunching (when my wife doesnt turn it off!) |

I have idle computers here at work...might as well make them busy.
It is crazy to think that we are the only (intelligent?) life in the vast universe. If there is some other life out there, why not help in the search.
Some random thoughts:
I donÂft think English will be the Universal language like it is on Earth and Star Trek. And I hope someone will end up creating a bablefish so we can understand all that is being said in any language or form of communication. If not a bablefish, just give me a memory update and let my brain download the proper language. (Like Matrix but without the HUGE hole in my head!)
Once we find something will our life improve? I donÂft see why. I think it might give humans a common bond as a species, but we will continue to rape the Earth and kill our own. There will never be peace on Earth as far as humans are concerned. We are a greedy and selfish creature.
If we are foundÂcwe will learn new technologies and will be able to open up new avenues of science and thinking. Then we will continue on our selfish path of destruction. I hope any alien life that finds us can or will teach us a good lesson on what it means to be Âgintelligent life.Âh Maybe they can ÂginviteÂh us to see the future, and our self-annihilation so we DO change.
The U.S. government will try to attempt (or has) to cover up any findings. Why?...so they can exploit and learn as much as possible in order to get the upper hand on any technologies (for weapons, mainly). For example (in a US political mindset), who would want Iraq to become friends with the ETs first? Of course the CIA would find a way to exploit the some knowledge by selling the it or using it for its own purposes....hmmm sounds like a book! :-P |
